Joseph Stambaugh died at 12 o'clock noon near Abbottstown after two weeks sickness. He was 71 years and four days old.
He leaves, besides his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Moses Messersmith, at home; Mrs. Oscar May, York, and six sons Bert, Isaac, Theophilus, Norman and Harry, of York, and John of near Loganville. Two brothers, John, of Hanover, and Emanuel, of Admire, and three sisters, Mrs. George Boyer, and Mrs. John Flickenger, of Hanover, and Mrs. Adam Chronister, of Iron Ridge, also survive.
The funeral was held Monday morning, leaving the house at 9:30 o'clock for Holzswam church, where concluding services were held. Interment in the adjoining cemetery, Rev. O. P. Schellhamer, pastor of the Paradise Reformed charge, officiating.

Thomasville—Mrs. Emma Alverta Stambaugh, 97, widow of Joseph S. Stambaugh, died Saturday at 7:15 p. m. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Messersmith, Thomasville, RD 1.
Mrs. Stambaugh, a daughter of the late Mr. and Ms. Isaac Haar, Paradise township, was the oldest resident in the area. She was a life long member of the Lutheran congregation of Paradise (Holtzschwamm) church.
Surviving are six sons, Bert E. Stambaugh, John E. Stambaugh, Harry E. Stambaugh, Norman A. Stambaugh, Theopholus P. Stambaugh, all of York, and Isaac C. Stambaugh, Lewes, Del.; two daughters, Mrs. Moses Messersmith, with whom she resided, and Mrs. Oscar May, York; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, and a brother, Allan S. Haar, Spring Grove.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p. m. from the Malvin A. Sauter Funeral home, North Main steet, Spring Grove. Rev. Paul Glatfelter, Lutheran supply pastor of Paradise church, will officiate. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining Paradise church.
