S. O. Sherwin Passes

Ralph Sherwin of St. Louis and Herbert Sherwin of Iola, Kansas arrived here Monday evening to look after the farm their father owned southwest of town. They brought the sad news that their father had passed away at Iola, Kansas on last Friday morning.

S. O. Sherwin and family came to Cedar county in the winter of 1894-95 and located on the farm which was the family home until 1916. They came here from South Dakota.

Mr. Sherwin was a good man, took active interest in Sunday School and church work and all matter pertaining to education and upbuilding of the community. He was about 75 years old. His wife died in 1916 and since that time he had been making his home at Iola, Kansas and near Elk City, Oklahoma.

There were nine children in Mr. Sherwin's family six of whom are living, Ralph, chemist for the American Aluminum Co. of St. Louis, Edward a stock raiser near Elk City, Melvin who is at the head of the Agriculture Department of the North Carolina University, Mrs. Myra Adams who lives in California, Herbert and Miss Josie of Iola Kansas. Alice and Will died while living in this county and Mrs. Anna Hoerning died at Iola, Kansas, nearly two years ago.

Old neighbors and friends of the sons and daughters extend deepest sympathy.

The funeral services were held in Iola and interment was made at the city.
