Shenandoah Couple Observe Golden Wedding—

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Wisman, prominent citizens of Shenandoah county, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday at the home of their son adn daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Wisman, in Edinburg. Their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were present to commemorate their marriage, which took place October 22, 1882.

Mr. Wisman is now 68 years old and his wife is 66. They both enjoy good health and are active in their home and community. They reared a family of five children, all of whom are living and were present at the celebration, which was in the nature of a family gathering. Others present were the Rev. Ed. L. Miller and his two daughters.

Mr. Wisman is one of the best known citizens in Shenandoah county, having served for twentyfour years as supervisor from Madison District. He retired from that office last March. Before marriage Mrs. Wisman was Miss Luella Maphis.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wisman was decorated with yellow and white chrysanthemums. The sumptiously laden dinner table was also decorated with chrysanthemums. The honored couple received many handsome gifts.

The children who attended the celebration are: Mrs. Charles M. (Flora) Sweeney, Maurertown; Otis Wisman, Cumberland, Md.; Harry E. Wisman, Edinburg; Ernest Wisman, Saumsville; Blaine Wisman, Toms Brook; Mrs. R. H. (Grace) Painter, Edinburg.

Other members of the families present were: Charles M. Sweeney and children, Emmett, Hilda and Tommy; Mrs. Otis Wisman, daughter, Frankie, and son-in-law and their little daughter, Mary daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Straw Elizabeth all from Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Harry E. Wisman and children, Louise, Paul and Iva May Wisman; Mrs. Ernest Wisman and children, Boby and Douglas; Mrs. Blaine Wisman and daughters, Mildred and Elaine; and the Rev. Ed. L. Miller and daughters, Eleanor and Dorothy. Also, there were Mrs. Mollie Neeb, of Woodstock, who is s sister of Mr. J. F. Wisman and Mrs. Laura Bryant, of Woodstock, who is a sister of Mrs. Wisman.

J. F. Wiseman Dies Suddenly

Well Known Shenandoah County Farmer Found Dead

EDINBURG, March 19.—The entire community was shocked last Saturday night to learn the news of the death of Joseph F. Wiseman, well known farmer and former Shenandoah county supervisor.

When Mr. Wiseman failed to return home from his farm at the usual hour, a search was made and he was found in the orchard on his farm near town at 8:00 o'clock.

He was in his usual health during the day, having been burning trash in the orchard Saturday, and it was near the fire that his son, Ernest Wiseman found his body. Death was due to heart trouble.

Mr. Wiseman was a son of the late William F. and Sarah Orvick Wiseman and was born at St. Luke Jan. 19, 1864, He spent his entire life in the Shenandoah county. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren since boyhood.

For the past six years he had served as road commissioner and for the past 24 years as county supervisor from the Madison district. Mr. Wiseman was known for his charitable acts and will be missed by both old and young. In spite of his age, he was one of the most active sportsmen of the county. He took an active part in the restocking of local forests and streams with wild life and fish and made large contributions to this cause.

Fifty-eight years ago he was married to Luella Maphis who survives along with the following children: Mrs. Charles Sweeny of Maurertown, Mrs. R. H. Painter of near Edinburg, Otis Wiseman of Cumberland, Md., Harry E. Wiseman of Edinburg and Ernest Wiseman of Toms Brook. Seventeen grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
